Highland Park Bus Driver to Head MTA

March 6, 2009

Congratulations to new Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority Chief Executive Officer, Arthur T. Leahy. Born and raised in Highland Park, Art Leahy graduated from Frankin High School in 1967. (He actually said “Go Panthers,” at yesterday’s press conference announcing his appointment.) He then went on to graduate from Cal State L.A. with a Political Science degree in 1974. He began his career in mass transit as a bus driver for the MTA’s predecessor, the RTD. And most recently headed the Orange County Trainsit Authotity for the past eight years.

Even though he is from Highland Park, I doubt he will be returning to take the Gold Line to work. With a annual salary of $310,000, and a housing allowance of $20,000, my guess is that he will be staying in south Orange County.

That’s exciting news for Leahy Walterr. I have a friend whose father taught at Franklin during that period (Mr Moser). I’m glad I found your blog. You have the inside scoop on Highland Park and your willing to share it.
