Keeping America Beautiful
August 19, 2009
Congratulations to Highland Park’s Milagro Allegro Community Garden on just being awarded a grant from Keep America Beautiful. They won one of only eight grants awarded in a national competition.
The funding will help keep America Beautiful, especially the part of America located in Highland Park in the alleyway behind the Highland Theater. The grant, along with a grant from the City of Los Angeles will go towards replacing the 14-foot-tall barbed-wire fence with a more pleasant artistically designed fence and gate. Hopefully, much like this.

Great news! Maybe they can get Brett Goldstone to design it. He lives in Highland Park and a studio near the Brewery.
Such beautiful flowers on the pea vine.
yes, please, a few fence. a little less a mad max/armageddon
I’m a big fan of Brett Goldstone’s work. His gates along the LA river work like billboards telling everyone that sees them, “Hey, look, there’s a river here, there’s nature here, this is something important!”
