Ah, Highland Park 1954. The markets didn’t have bars on them, parking was ample, the news racks weren’t bolted to the sidewalk, stop signs were rare, the aerosol paint can had only been invented five years prior, couches were loved and not abandoned on the curb, and you could put on your favorite mustard-colored coat, walk into the middle of Monte Vista and catch a matching streetcar to take you downtown.
