They’re Back!
One of the most amazing natural urban phenomenons has returned for a limited time to the Broadway in Downtown Los Angeles. The Vaux’s Swifts have returned to roost in the abandoned chimney of the Chester Building on 5th and Broadway. (Coincidentally right above where Highland Park’s Chicken Boy originally roosted.)
Having first been spotted here this past April, the Swifts have once again stopped by on their way to South America. While they may be seen swooping into the chimney at dusk every day of the week, on Fridays, our local Audubon Center at Debs Park will be on hand to share information and their binoculars with other Swift Watchers.
So Friday, bring a picnic and something to sit on to the 5th Floor Parking Lot at 440 South Broadway from 6pm until it gets dark and the Swifts go to bed.

Word is that the number of Swifts have diminished since last week. Guess they decided the heat was too much and headed south to cooler climes.
